Abstract
Excess weight among children is a growing concern for parents and professionals. Daily physical activity of children in early learning settings has not been well researched. However, there is increasing attention being given to this issue. The White House Task Force on Childhood Obesity submitted a report in 2011 identifying settings, programs and policies that support the prevention of obesity for young children (F as in Fat 2010 p. 68). This article describes the qualitative findings of a study of daily physical activity of 4-7 year olds in early learning settings. Recommendations are made for teachers and administrators of young learners in diverse settings.
