Abstract

The multi-user virtual environment (MUVE), known as Second Life (SL™) has been used extensively for educational purposes. Yet less studied are applications of this environment to health education topics. Equally lacking are clear instructions to guide the educator in both establishing this useful learning environment, and an application of the environment to educational topics that can be difficult to discuss face to face. The objectives for this manuscript include the development of an understanding of the technical parameters necessary to use Second Life, and methods to apply sexual health education content within the Second Life virtual world. The target audience is college or university level educators.
