Abstract

This presentation examines what principals are doing in response to teachers leaving education. Our main question for the study was, what are principals doing to keep teachers in the profession. What are the barriers they face and what is working to retain teachers? A survey was sent out to one large district in South Carolina and those responses are presented.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Suzanne Horn and Dr. Lee Hunter are professors in the Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences. Dr. Horn teaches in the Middle School, MAT, and PhD program at Coastal Carolina University. Dr. Hunter teaches in the PhD and the Educational Leadership program at Coastal Carolina University.
