Navigating the Change and Reinventing the Future
Abstract
The classroom (which is more than just a location) is a dynamic, ever-changing space through time. This presentation will draw on the post-humanist ideas of diffraction (Barad, 2003, 2014), geographies (McKittrick, 2006) and sociogeny (Wynter, 2005) to better understand this space. You will explore how a diffractive approach to teaching allows us to utilize the depths of knowledge, information, and experiences available to the teacher, institution, and students to create a class that integrates and values all knowledge. It allows students to learn in an environment that seeks to intra-act and entangle facets of their lives and the content in ways that will allow for a richer experience and stronger outcomes.
