Abstract

Join us for this session where we will explore how the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is innovating to deliver micro-credentialing at the course and institution levels, focusing on the use of digital badges and their potential to recognize student achievements in a way that is both transparent and transferable. MUSC's digital badge program is designed to provide students with a flexible, affordable, and effective way to gain new skills and demonstrate their proficiency to potential employers. During this session, we will discuss the program's development and implementation, highlighting the key factors that have contributed to its success and lessons learned from early micro-credential adoption. We will also provide insights into the technical infrastructure and support needed to effectively implement digital badges, including the role of the Learning Management System (LMS) and badge issuing platforms. Whether you are a faculty member interested in integrating digital badges into your courses or an administrator looking to launch a new program, this session will provide valuable insights and inspiration for leveraging micro-credentials to advance your goals. Come learn about our program, ask questions, and explore the potential of micro-credentialing.
