Engaging Pedagogy

Abstract

Formative assessments have proven to be effective assessments for learning rather than of learning. However, the time it takes to create formative assessments can be extensive. In addition, learning a new interactive educational technology tool can also be time-consuming. So, is creating formative assessments worth it? In this workshop, we will verify the effect formative assessments have on student performance and prove that the effect on student outcomes outweighs the time it takes to implement them. We will explore how to add quick, meaningful and essential formative assessments using tools that may already be familiar. To participate, have a slide deck ready so you can dispel the myth of "Death by Slide Deck" and truly encourage student success.
