Abstract

Critical thinking contains depth and dimension that can be a challenge to translate into teaching and learning strategies in the college classroom. Processes and techniques will be shared that can be transferred into multiple subject fields. Teaching strategies include historic and contemporary definitions of terms/biographies of authors/examples that embrace global and local sites/exposure to practices involving intellectual traits/positive psychology/engagement and dialogue. Learning strategies include small group teamwork and reflective visual essays that assess cognitive, affective and experiential elements as well as critical thinking. Participants will view examples of student work and have access to essay rubrics.
