Abstract/Description
Because it is known that mercury is a toxic substance, a study has been initiated to determine mercury deposition levels in Horry County, SC. Samples will be taken on campus at Coastal Carolina University and also at Waites Island. The Coastal Carolina location is closer to a large point source of mercury emission, the Grainger Generating Station on Highway 501. Waites Island is further away from this site, and should exhibit lower concentrations of mercury.
