Description
A profile taken of Emily Pyatt in her home on Pawleys Island. Emily Pyatt graduated from Benedict College in 1943 and then became a teacher on Sandy Island. In her first years teaching on Sandy Island, some residents questioned her ability to do so. As time passed they soon came to respect Mrs. Pyatt and her teaching. She was strict but she still regards her teaching days as "good times". Some of her students were regarded as more advanced compared to their mainland classmates when attending high school.
