Description
A sandy road through trees on Sandy Island. A large tree looms in the forefront of the image. Spanish moss dangles down from most trees. These forests are largely untouched due to a large portion of Sandy Island becoming a protected area. The endangered Red-Cockaded Woodpecker calls these pines it's home and in 1996, the Sandy Island Preserve became a wildlife refuge, protected by the Nature Conservancy.
